Netflix is rolling out a new mystery drama where Toni Collette runs a not-so-wholesome school in small-town Vermont. If that sentence already has your true-crime brain humming, same. Here’s when the first batch hits and what you’re getting into.

What is Wayward?

Set in Tall Pines, Vermont, the series parks us at a school for troubled teens overseen by Evelyn Wade (Toni Collette). Two students, Leila and Abbie, are stuck there against their will for a behavior makeover that, of course, turns into something a lot darker. As they start digging into the school’s secrets, Detective Alex Dempsey gets pulled into the mess. If you see the title written as The Wayward in a few places, don’t overthink it — it’s the same show.

Episodes 1-8 land on Thursday, September 25, 2025. Netflix does its usual middle-of-the-night drop in the U.S.:
