Riverdale Fans, You Have to Rewatch the Pilot Before Series Finale
It looks like the series finale will surprise fans.
After seven long years, The CW's Riverdale is coming to an end, and it looks like the writers are ready to drop a pretty devastating final twist on the fans with a two-episode conclusion for Archie, Jughead, and their friends.
With only two episodes left, viewers are still trying to understand how the show will wrap, as the entire seventh season, including the recent Episode 18, hasn't set up any kind of twists or surprising revelations. This certainly worries the fandom, as people fear that the writers might once again jump the shark with their poor character development and weird ideas.
However, thanks to the recently released teaser trailer for the two-episode finale, viewers have found some hope, as a couple of major revelations were clearly set up in the short video.
First of all, Tabitha will return — Jughead's girlfriend was nowhere to be seen in Season 7, but her appearance is officially confirmed in the teaser. What's more, it looks like she might bring a huge plot twist with her.
Seeing the scene where Tabitha forces Jughead to watch TV and he starts crying, some fans have become convinced that the writers have come up with a pretty crazy twist that might actually prompt us to rewatch the very first episode of Riverdale before the finale — the iconic pilot.
The thing is, the TV that Tabitha makes Jughead watch in the teaser shows something quite surprising — Riverdale's own pilot. Yes, one of the show's characters is basically watching the first time he was introduced to real-life fans, and he starts crying about it.
It looks like Riverdale's writers are preparing a huge meta twist for viewers in the finale, possibly revealing that Archie and his friends were actors all along, or maybe they were living in a reality show without realizing it.
In any case, re-watching the pilot may be essential to fully understanding the upcoming episodes, as they will certainly allude to some of the things that happen in Episode 1.
Riverdale Episode 19 and Episode 20 will arrive on The CW on August 16, 2023.
