Devil Wears Prada 2 Just Confirmed a New Boyfriend for Andy — And It's Not Who You'd Expect

Nearly 20 years after The Devil Wears Prada first hit theaters, the fashion world is getting its most high-profile sequel yet.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is officially in production, with a release date set for May 1, 2026 — perfectly timed to coincide with that year's Met Gala.
Anne Hathaway is back as Andy Sachs, the overworked assistant-turned-editor who famously survived a year under Meryl Streep's icy glare. Streep, of course, returns as Miranda Priestly, the dragon of Runway magazine. Also back: Emily Blunt as Miranda's long-suffering No. 1 assistant, Stanley Tucci as fashion director Nigel, and Tibor Feldman as Elias-Clarke chairman Irv Ravitz.
But while much of the original cast is returning, one notable character is not: Adrien Grenier, who played Andy's boyfriend Nate in the first film, won't be in the sequel.
According to sources close to production, Nate's storyline "tied up naturally" and won't be revisited.
Instead, The Devil Wears Prada 2 has quietly introduced a new love interest for Andy — and he's not who fans were expecting. Patrick Brammall, best known for co-creating and starring in Colin From Accounts, has joined the cast and was spotted filming a romantic restaurant scene with Hathaway in New York City. No official details on his character yet, but the pairing has already caught fans off guard.
And he's not the only new face in the mix. The updated cast includes:
- Patrick Brammall as Andy's new boyfriend
- Kenneth Branagh as Miranda Priestly's new husband
- Pauline Chalamet, Lucy Liu, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, and B.J. Novak in undisclosed roles
The first film, released in 2006, became a surprise global hit and a fashion staple, grossing over $326 million worldwide and earning Meryl Streep an Oscar nomination. The sequel's plot remains tightly under wraps, but with filming now underway and paparazzi shots making the rounds, buzz is already building fast.
With original stars returning, Met Gala-level timing, and unexpected casting twists, Devil Wears Prada 2 is shaping up to be one of the biggest (and most scrutinized) sequels of the decade. May 1, 2026 — mark your calendars.
