Olivia Wilde Had the Best Reaction to Wearing the Same Dress as Margaret Zhang to the 2023 Met Gala
It looks like the star didn't mind sharing an outfit at all.
The 2023 Met Gala turned out to be a rather boring affair, as basically none of the esteemed guests managed to really wow their fans. Yes, Jared Leto showed up on the red carpet dressed as a giant cat, and Lil Nas X wore nothing but silver paint and a thong, but these outfits seemed rather gimmicky and, on the nose, more likely to bore fans than inspire them.
And yet, there were still a few things that caused a bit of a stir, and Olivia Wilde and Margaret Zhang's appearance on the red carpet in the iconic Chanel violin dress was the most notable of these.
The actress and the editor-in-chief of Vogue China probably did not discuss their looks before attending the Met Gala, as they both wore basically the same dress. Well, Wilde's version was white, a little more revealing and a little looser, while Zhang opted for a classic black look that complemented her bright blue hair — but the dress was still the same!
After such a major train wreck, fans were dying to hear what Wilde thought about it, wondering if the actress hated her competitor for stealing the spotlight from her. However, it looks like Wilde isn't offended at all, sharing a thoughtful and touching reaction to the whole debacle via her Instagram story.
'Great minds. If you're gonna twin with anyone, make it Margaret Zhang,' Wilde wrote.
Fans are happy that there's no bad blood between the two celebrities and congratulate both for making the same dress their own. However, the question of who wore it better is still very much alive, and while critics may choose Wilde as the winner, fans are defending Zhang's vision instead.
'They both look great, but Margaret looks cooler to me. Olivia's forearm cuffs are reading a little Xena: Warrior Princess in a way I don't love,' one fan said.
It looks like Wilde still has a bit of a grudge against Margaret Zhang, as her 'twin' just stole the hearts of the fans! All jokes aside, it was really interesting to see the same dress in two different versions, and fans are quietly hoping that more red carpets will provide them with such an interesting comparison.
