The star recently joined the storied franchise and revealed that she has never seen a CSI episode.

The hit CBS crime series has been on the air for more than two decades, spawning several spin-offs and introducing dozens of new actors to the main cast.

While the main show went on a hiatus in 2015, CBS continued the saga in 2021 under the new moniker CSI: Vegas, with William Petersen returning as Gil Grissom after more than a decade away from the show.

The beloved actor was joined by a bunch of talented new cast members, including Mandeep Dhillon, who recently startled the audience with her surprising confession.

The young actress revealed that she hadn't watched a single episode of CSI before agreeing to star in the show, and fans were a bit concerned about that, wondering if her lack of knowledge could hurt her performance.

Obviously, that didn't happen, as Dhillon's character, Allie Rajan, quickly became a fan favorite. However, people are still unsure why the actress decided not to watch any CSI episodes, and now we finally know why.

In an interview with In Creative Company, Dhillon explained her stance on the matter, calling such a decision her creative method. The actress said she used the same method before her appearances in other franchises, including 24 and Star Wars, because it was the only way for her to create a truly memorable performance.

The star revealed that she decided not to watch CSI for fear of subconsciously repeating the antics and gimmicks of previous characters, and so she was able to invent her character from scratch.

Upon learning this, fans praised Dhillon for using such a clever method to keep her character fresh and original, noting that many other network actors should use the same tactics to prepare for their roles, as most characters in modern crime shows look very similar to each other.

Perhaps a decade from now, Dhillon herself will be a subject for imitation, as she has managed to stand out among the CSI cast as a truly talented and skillful performer.
