The new song caused controversy.

With BTS recently going on hiatus to allow some of its members to complete their mandatory military service, the whole world was preparing for a drought in K-pop. However, Jung Kook did not actually enlist in the military and continued to pursue his solo career. And since he is arguably the most popular member of BTS, all of his songs became instant hits, although it seems that their quality proved to be a divisive issue among K-pop fans.

Jung Kook's new single 3D premiered on YouTube less than 10 hours ago, but the song has already garnered more than 5 million views, which is insane and puts even the biggest stars in the world like Drake or The Weeknd to shame. The new hit also features Jack Harlow, whose collaboration with Jung Kook was not something fans were expecting.

Controversy ensues

While Jung Kook's vocals and Jack Harlow's rapping proved to be a great match, and the video for the song looked simply stunning, with wonderful choreography and clever direction, fans were quick to accuse Jung Kook of ruining BTS's reputation, and here's why.

BTS have always been popular for being very family friendly, with clear lyrics and respect for women being important to the band's success. However, in his new song, Jung Kook decided to change this by infusing the lyrics with an alarming amount of male obsession with sex, as almost every lyric in the song refers to sexual activity.

And while Jung Kook tried to metaphorize the true meaning of his lyrics in his verses, Harlow did no such thing, openly talking about enjoying dating four girls at a time and describing monogamous relationships as boring.

It seems that Harlow misunderstood the K-pop audience and pandered to his usual crowd with obscene lyrics and questionable meanings, making the show all the more controversial.

Perhaps Jung Kook's representatives should have paid more attention to Harlow and told him that K-pop has always been about respecting women, not about sex and men being horny.

While 3D has already become a hit, it looks like Jung Kook's wholesome image will suffer in the aftermath of the song's release.
