7 Best Delena Episodes in The Vampire Diaries, Ranked
These are without a doubt, the best episodes featuring the most iconic TVD couple.
Rose (Season 2, Episode 8)
Damon Salvatore had committed some despicable acts in his immortal lifetime and was without a doubt the ‘evil’ brother, but this began to change with his growing feelings for Elena.
Elena was hunted and held hostage, and the drama ended with Damon confessing for the first time that he loved her. Damon was quick to compel her to forget his meaningful words, but we never forget this pivotal moment in Damon’s redemption and Delena’s story.
Heart of Darkness (Season 3, Episode 19)
It all started with a kiss, and this was a moment we had been waiting for, for what felt like an eternity, but the fiery moment that Damon and Elena’s lips finally met for their first real kiss, was well worth it. After years of attraction, sparks were flying in full force, and we knew that this was the beginning of something good, something real, between the pair.
The Departed (Season 3, Episode 22)
As if we needed more confirmation that Damon and Elena were meant for each other, this was the episode that did just that.
‘This Departed’ demonstrated the power of destiny, as a flashback revealed that Damon and Elena had met years before, in a chance encounter whilst she was waiting for her parents.
My Brother’s Keeper (Season 4, Episode 7)
Despite the romantic tension and close encounters between Damon and Elena, their relationship only became official in this episode, after Elena’s transformation into a vampire, in which she needed Damon to teach and guide her.
With Elena's sire bonded to Damon, the pair were intimate for the first time and truly accepted happiness with each other. Needless to say, after years of teasing their union, this episode was hugely satisfying.
Graduation (Season 4, Episode 23)
Fans were worried that Elena and Damon would end after learning about the sire bond. However, after the bond was broken, she was still deeply in love with him, surprising Damon and fans. Better yet, this episode marked the start of a legitimate relationship between the pair (finally).
Home (Season 5, Episode 22)
Elena shows her love for Damon, in what many describe as a ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ moment, after she insists on joining him as he rammed his car into the Mystic Grill as part of a deadly plan to save the town.
Her devotion to him showed that she was willing to die with him, although Damon was the one who ended up on The Other Side.
I’d Leave My Happy Home For You (Season 6, Episode 20)
This time, Damon showed that devotion came from both sides of the relationship, as he chose Elena and took the cure to become human with her, instead of remaining a vampire, which was the biggest sacrifice his character could have made.
I Was Feeling Epic (Season 8, Episode 16)
It’s not often that a series manages to pull off a satisfying and heartfelt ending, but TVD nailed it, with the finale seeing Damon and Elena’s emotional reunions after her sleeping curse was broken, and then depicted the pair living a happy, human life together.
