It seems the series' writers have a big surprise in store for the fans.

Since CBS announced the news of a Sheldon-centric spinoff, fans have dreaded the moment when one particular story is adapted for the screen. In the original series, Sheldon told his friends that one of the most shocking moments of his childhood was catching his father cheating on his mother with another woman.

While this memory was not as hurtful in The Big Bang Theory, as fans never actually met Sheldon's father, George, it would be a massive blow to the fans of Young Sheldon, seeing how in the spinoff, George Sr. is an important character popular with fans.

The fact that Sheldon was 14 years old when he caught his father in the act and was visiting his family on a college spring break means only one thing – the story of George's infidelity must transpire by the end of this season.

While most fans suspected the Coopers' neighbour, Brenda, would be the woman George cheats on Mary with, the trailer for the upcoming episode 18 puts that idea to rest.

In the short trailer, George is seen casually sipping beer in his living room while talking to an unidentified blonde woman sitting behind him. When fans saw this slender figure, it became painfully obvious that this mystery woman was neither Mary nor Missy, which means only one thing - an intruder is coming to the Cooper household.

Fans are certain that the writers of Young Sheldon have decided to use the strategy that most in the fandom have been thinking about: introduce a brand new character as George's lover rather than reusing, and possibly ruining, a previously established and beloved one.

So, the show will just have a stranger come, do the damage and go, leaving George to clean up the mess.

Young Sheldon Season 6 Episode 18, Little Green Men and a Fella's Marriage Proposal, will arrive on CBS on 27 April 2023.
