Celebrity Traitors Contestants Are Getting Paid More Than You Think

The BBC's upcoming Celebrity Traitors UK isn't just a battle of lies and loyalty — it's also a pretty decent payday.
Ahead of the show's Autumn 2025 premiere, details have emerged about how much each celebrity is getting to appear, and while it's not I'm a Celebrity money, it's more than most fans expected.
Speaking on The Rest Is Entertainment podcast, journalist Marina Hyde revealed that the contestants were each paid a flat fee of £40,000 to participate.
"I am spilling all my tea today," she told co-host Richard Osman. "They're paying them a 40k fee."
That £40,000 covers just a few weeks of filming, making it a relatively generous check — especially compared to regular BBC fees. But it still pales in comparison to the huge sums dished out over on ITV's I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here, where participants are known to earn seven figures:
- Coleen Rooney reportedly earned over £1.5 million
- Nigel Farage was paid exactly £1.5 million
- Caitlyn Jenner and Harry Redknapp each earned £500,000
In contrast, Celebrity Traitors is clearly working on a tighter budget — but it's also operating with a very different vibe. Based on the hit social strategy series The Traitors, this version brings in a high-profile cast to play the game of deception for charity, with the winner walking away with £100,000 for a cause of their choice.
The cast includes some pretty big names from across British entertainment, including:
- Olympic diver Tom Daley and rugby player Joe Marler
- Actor-presenter Stephen Fry, plus Celia Imrie, Mark Bonnar, Nick Mohammed, Ruth Codd, and Tameka Empson
- Singers Charlotte Church, Paloma Faith, and Cat Burns
- Comedians Alan Carr, Joe Wilkinson, and Lucy Beaumont
- Presenters Jonathan Ross, Kate Garraway, and Clare Balding
- Historian David Olusoga
- YouTuber Niko Omilana
The original Traitors format, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, became a surprise hit in the UK and US thanks to its mix of high-stakes gameplay and psychological drama. Celebrity Traitors is expected to draw even more attention, thanks to the famous faces and a format that blends reality competition with full-blown paranoia.
And while £40k may not sound like much in the world of celebrity TV contracts, when you're staying in a castle, lying for a living, and only committing a couple of weeks — it's not a bad deal.
Celebrity Traitors UK will air Autumn 2025 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
