Worst Virgin River Season 5 Character? Not Charmaine, According to Reddit

Even though Virgin River has been one of the most popular melodramas in Netflix's library since it premiered in 2019, many fans still have doubts about the show's quality, accusing the writers of poor character development and trite plot twists that make the show seem like a soap opera. However, the writers still succeed in at least one thing - creating extremely unlikable characters.

Despite the fact that the perpetually pregnant Charmaine has often taken the title of the worst character on the show, all thanks to her annoying personality and questionable tactics to get her ex Jack back with her, it looks like Season 5 has just given us the new most despised character - Hope McCrea.

While Hope seemed like a sweet, quirky old lady in the first season, she gradually turned into a real bitch as the show progressed, as her constant need to meddle in other people's affairs made her a nightmare for both the residents of Virgin River and the fans.

Despite being married to one of the show's most beloved characters, Vernon Mullins, Hope is truly hated by the fandom, and the situation got even worse this season as the amount of gossip the old witch spread was simply out of proportion.

Fans began to dislike her so much that some of them began urging the writers to kill her off as soon as possible so that Doc could spend more time with the woman he actually loves.

'I keep thinking she'll succumb to her heart condition, die in a hurricane, car accident or wander into the woods in a fire, but somehow she's always still here…sounds terrible but I always wanted her killed off so Doc and Muriel would end up together. She would care for him so well…& isn't a capricious, endlessly squawking, self-involved nosey town nuisance,' a fan lamented.

However, at least in season 5, Hope showed some real heroism during the forest fire, proving that even she can hope for some kind of redemption.
