It looks like one monster managed to scare even the actors.

Although The Witcher Season 3 may be the worst chapter of Netflix's fantasy series due to subpar writing, poor acting from the supporting cast, and the departure of Henry Cavill in the final episode, one thing can't be denied: the show's production team really managed to make CGI monsters look great.

While the season itself angered many fans due to its lack of coherence and major deviations from Andrzej Sapkowski's source material, almost all of them were surprised by one monster design — Kikimora from Episode 2.

In the series, Kikimora is presented as a giant spider-like creature with a deformed face and a mouth full of sharp teeth. But while the monster's appearance is quite terrifying, its origin story is even more so — Kikimora is made up of the bodies of young women, and its lair is littered with their severed heads, which are still alive.

No wonder it was hard for some viewers to stomach such a monster, and it looks like some of the actors had the same problem during production.

Anya Chalotra, who plays Yennefer, recently revealed that Kikimora became one of her greatest fears during filming. The creature managed to terrify the actress with a combination of ugly looks and a heartbreaking backstory.

'Yeah, that's very disturbing. I'm more disturbed at how, where that came from: the mind, you know, that's quite a thing to see,' the actress said.

Even though Kikimora didn't play a major role in the recent chapter of The Witcher, its appearance was still one of the highlights of the season, making it at least a little more watchable.

With Cavill's departure from the project, lots of fans have already confessed to not wanting to follow The Witcher anymore. This means the production designers and VFX artists should really outdo themselves in the upcoming fourth season, forcing viewers to continue watching the show at least for great monster designs.

If only the producers were willing to spend that much time not only creating monsters but also writing good scripts, Netflix's The Witcher would be a total blast to watch. Alas.
