Witcher Season 3 Finale is The Perfect Opportunity for Hemsworth's Debut

Netflix's The Witcher has been quite a divisive show since it premiered in 2019, as fans of the original novels and games argued that the streaming giant was never really interested in doing justice to the source material, turning Geralt's complicated, multifaceted story into a mindless action show.

However, one thing that kept viewers returning for each new season of The Witcher was Henry Cavill's performance as Geralt, as the actor cared about his character and the fans.

But with Cavill leaving after the current third season, fans are struggling to understand how Liam Hemsworth will be able to fill Henry's shoes and, most importantly, how the writers will handle the sudden transformation of Geralt's appearance. Fortunately, some people in the fandom already have some canon ideas for how the transition from one actor to the next could be made as seamless as possible.

The most obvious way for Geralt to get a new face would be if he used facial reconstruction magic after a fight and messed up the spell a bit. If that were the case, the transformation could be incorporated into the story, and other characters might even joke about Geralt's new face in the next season.

‘The best way to make the transition is season 3 end with a fight between Vilgefortz and Geralt. Clearly In the book Vilgefortz beat the hell out of Geralt. So have Geralt get beat so bad that he basically has facial reconstruction magic and recovers in Brokilon forest insert Hemsworth, then we start season 4. Bam,’ a fan argued.

Furthermore, some fans don't think the show creators should have Liam copy Cavill in every way, arguing that Geralt needs to change with the actor. And then again, in the books and the games, Gerlat changed his appearance quite often, so it's not as if having a different actor play the character would break the canon.

‘Give us a nod to Witcher 3 with the transition. Have Liam’s Geralt grow a beard, trade the all black outfit for white and black, and let the new look reflect a man changing with time. We’ve really seen Geralt go from wandering slayer to father — why not reflect some change in his looks?’ another fan pointed out.

The second part of The Witcher Season 3 will be released on Netflix on 27 July 2023.
