Netflix's decision to produce a spinoff of their biggest romantic drama before completing the main storyline of the original show was initially met with some concern from fans. Many feared that this might further delay the release of the highly anticipated third season.
However, the new series, Queen Charlotte, has proven to be such an outstanding show that fans are no longer bothered by the inconvenience!
It was only released yesterday, but thousands of fans have already binged the new show and shared their excitement online. In particular, viewers loved the romantic dynamic between Charlotte and King George, calling them a truly compelling and memorable couple. All six episodes have been a hit, with people already urging Netflix to renew the show for a second season. But would that even be possible?
Queen Charlotte is still officially labelled as a limited series, and the streaming giant has no plans for future seasons. However, given the immense popularity of the show just a day after its release, Netflix representatives are likely to address the situation in the coming weeks and may even agree to produce another season focusing on the young queen's story. However, not all fans are hopeful for a potential renewal, arguing that Shonda Rhimes and her team created Queen Charlotte as a limited series for a reason, and a change of plans could be detrimental to the show.
‘A part of me wants more but I also know that when we get greedy and they drag shows out longer than they needed it gets bad. For me that ending of them under the bed just felt like such a good end, so I don’t know if I’d want another season,’ a fan notes.
While this sentiment is certainly rooted in great respect for Queen Charlotte, other fans are confident that Netflix will do everything possible to make any future seasons even better than the first limited series. After all, viewers won't watch subpar shows, and the streaming giant needs those clicks!
