Amid Avengers: Doomsday buzz, Charlie Cox just cooled the Daredevil hype—after a Jimmy Kimmel Live appearance, he says he’s still waiting for an Avengers call-up, signaling no confirmed return for Avengers 5 or 6.

Charlie Cox just poured a little cold water on all the Daredevil-in-the-Avengers chatter. He is game to suit up, but based on what he is saying right now, nobody at Marvel has called him for the big team-up yet.

What Charlie Cox actually said

On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Cox was asked point-blank about two projects fans keep circling: the next Spider-Man movie (titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day) and this year’s Avengers: Doomsday.

First, Spider-Man. After his quick stop in No Way Home, he shut that door for now and said he is not back for Brand New Day.

Then came Avengers: Doomsday. Cox did not claim a secret cameo or play coy. He gave the straight answer:

"I don’t think so. No... as far as I know, I’m not in the Avengers."

He did leave himself a little wiggle room, though, adding that he is ready if the phone rings:

"I sit by the phone waiting with bated breath."

Here is the eyebrow-raiser: he also suggested the movie had not started shooting yet. Meanwhile, reporting says Doomsday began filming last year, with reshoots happening this year. Maybe Cox is thinking about the other big one on the board, because Avengers: Secret Wars is expected to film this year too.

Fans are split on the read

Reactions landed all over the map. A chunk of the internet thinks he is just following the studio playbook, pointing to Andrew Garfield’s famous pre-No Way Home denials. Others are taking Cox at his word. Either way, plenty of people still expect Daredevil to crash an Avengers movie sooner or later.

Where Daredevil stands in the MCU

  • Spider-Man: No Way Home — cameo as Matt Murdock, his official MCU entry after the Netflix run
  • She-Hulk — guest stint on TV
  • Daredevil: Born Again — back to headlining on TV

His revival alongside Jon Bernthal’s Punisher keeps the crossover hopes alive. Bernthal is already confirmed for Spider-Man 4, which only amps up the speculation that Cox could swing through too.

About Avengers: Doomsday

Marvel is stacking this one like an all-star game. The cast locked in so far includes Robert Downey Jr, Pedro Pascal, Anthony Mackie, Chris Hemsworth, and more. If Cox ends up joining them during reshoots, great; as of now, he is watching and waiting like the rest of us.
