It looks like Adult Swim has cleverly fixed the problem.

Needless to say, Rick and Morty is one of the most popular animated shows of the last decade, as its wacky sense of humor, interesting storylines, and wonderful voice acting have made it a cult favorite in the months since the first season premiered back in 2013.

However, the beloved show is currently in jeopardy, as series creator and lead voice actor Justin Roiland was fired from the show in January when domestic abuse allegations against him were made public.

However, the prosecutor found Roiland not guilty due to insufficient evidence, leading fans to wonder if Adult Swim would invite him back to voice Rick and Morty. Unfortunately, the producers decided against it and continue to say that Roiland will be replaced by voice actors.

Mysterious replacement

With Rick and Morty Season 7 set to premiere in just over a month, fans are rightfully concerned about Adult Swim's refusal to reveal the names of Roiland's replacements. While the idea that the network is keeping the names of these individuals secret to protect them from harassment sounds quite realistic, fans are certain that no actors are actually involved in the production of the upcoming season.

Instead, fans suspect that Adult Swim will be using Roiland-trained AI to voice Rick and Morty, which may be the best solution to the problem. While Roiland himself will be removed from the production, his voice will continue to voice the characters as usual.

If that's true, fans will be more than happy to hear the same voice again, but some of them actually fear what this decision might mean for the future of Hollywood, especially in the midst of the SAG-AFTRA strike.

'This is actually one of the things actors are fighting over right now. Studios want to be able to keep digital copies of their voices/images so they can pay them once, then use it forever with AI and shit. So while it seems like a good solution for this one instance, in the big picture it would be awful,' one fan said.

Rick and Morty is set to return to Adult Swim on October 15, 2023.
