It would appear that Costner is willing to go to any lengths to antagonise his estranged wife.

Among Hollywood's veterans, Kevin Costner is regarded as one of the most esteemed performers, a reputation earned through an extensive back catalogue of successful films, an impressive career as a director and producer, and his image of the quintessential American dad.

However, off-screen, Costner seems to be a completely different person, as illustrated by his recent divorce from his wife of 19 years, Christine Baumgartner.

The iconic actor married the designer in 2004, and their marriage appeared to be one of Hollywood's most enduring, underscored by their three children and an array of shared properties, including a huge $145 million house in California. Their fairytale life, however, came to an abrupt end this year when Christine filed for divorce, taking their three children with her. Fans are not ok with the way Costner treated his wife during the separation, arguing that the sum she received as part of the prenuptial agreement is laughably inadequate.

Under the prenuptial agreement, Christine and their three children will receive $1.45 million from the divorce and $30 thousand a month for housing. While this is a substantial amount, it pales in comparison to Costner's reported net worth of nearly $250 million, especially considering that Christine is the mother of his children and was his wife for close to two decades.

'It sounds like she had a horrible lawyer when they signed their prenup and was taken advantage of. He is either super vindictive and/or super cheap. It does not really sound like he's considering his children,' a fan said.

According to some sources, Christine decided to divorce Kevin because of his workaholic tendencies: he was not spending enough time with her and the children, instead focusing almost exclusively on his career. While it's acceptable for a prominent actor like Costner to prioritise his work, his family was undoubtedly affected, prompting Christine to move on with her life. And Costner was so immersed in his work the whole time that he was blissfully unaware of the problem until it was too late.

'Apparently, he was blindsided by her divorce filing so it feels like everything he's doing now is out of spite. I don't know anything about anything, but I heard that he was supposed to be working less so he could be home more with the family, and instead of working less he was taking on more projects, and she'd had enough,' another fan explained.
