Why Do People Still Hate Jake Gyllenhaal?
The hatred for the actor went too far.
While there's no denying that Taylor Swift is one of the most influential artists of this decade, releasing one hit album after another and earning great reviews from fans and critics, it looks like the star's huge fan base is one of the most problematic in the industry.
Certainly, Taylor must be happy about having an army of loyal fans supporting her in every decision she makes, but it's hard to believe she's okay with people bullying her ex-boyfriends just because they decided to break up with her. Well, truth be told, some of Swift's exes clearly deserve a bit of scorn from the star's die-hard fans, but actor Jake Gyllenhaal seems to be quite a wholesome character who shouldn't receive so much backlash from thousands of people, for no apparent reason.
Jake and Taylor looked like a perfect couple back in 2010 when they started dating, and since both of them were already quite successful people, fans were expecting their romance to last for a long time. However, that was simply not in the cards, as the stars broke up after less than a year of being together, and even though none of them ever commented on their decision to split, for some inexplicable reasons Taylor's fans decided that Jake was abusive towards the singer.
And, thanks to Swifties' tendency to overthink every lyric the star ever recorded, people immediately found an alleged proof that Jake was the subject of some not-so-flattering words from the singer, and the hatred grew even bigger.
Of course, as it's been more than a decade after their breakup, much of that hatred has long disappeared, but some of Taylor's fans still blame Gyllenhaal for breaking the singer's heart.
'This was a relationship between two people which had problems like our own. Maybe this one was downright abusive which I can see Jake getting rightfully dragged for it. Taylor was in the right, but do you think she wants us terrorizing her exes' comments pages? I just took a look and some of the comments are pretty gross and taken a bit far,' one fan said, and we certainly agree.
