The rising star was replaced by another actress.

It's no secret that AMC is struggling to remain relevant after the recent conclusion of two of its biggest shows, The Walking Dead and Better Call Saul. However, it would appear that the network's management team has a good grasp of their business, as they are not only finding success with TWD's spin-offs but also launching a brand-new franchise. AMC recently purchased the rights to Ann Rice's books, and the first two shows resulting from that deal, Mayfair Witches and Interview with the Vampire, have sparked a lot of fan interest.

Interview with the Vampire is unquestionably a great series and could easily become one of AMC's most valuable properties in the coming years. Given that the show's second season has already wrapped up production, fans are going to be seeing Lestat and Claudia again sooner than anticipated. However, there is one issue that has viewers particularly worried.

Surprising Recast

When the first season concluded, fans were taken aback to learn that Bailey Bass, who portrayed Claudia, would not be returning for the second season due to scheduling conflicts. Viewers found it difficult to comprehend why the producers didn't sign a multi-year contract with Bailey, seeing how she's a key reason Interview with the Vampire became a hit.

On the other hand, it's easy to see why Baily chose to step away from the show so early: her upcoming projects are nothing short of extraordinary. After her role as Tsireya in last year's Avatar: The Way of the Water, Bailey generated a significant amount of buzz in Hollywood as one of the most prominent rising stars of the new generation, leading James Cameron to cast her in Avatar 3 and Avatar 4.

With two of the biggest and most-anticipated movies in Hollywood history on the cards for her, it makes perfect sense that Bailey would have given AMC's Interview with the Vampire a hard pass. The role of Claudia has now gone to the promising newcomer, Delainey Hayles.

And judging by the recently released teaser for Season 2, the substitute looks like a great fit for the part.
