Why Aren't American Idol Rejects Singing Their Way Onto The Voice?
Fans wonder if they might see eliminated contestants again.
The rivalry between American Idol and The Voice has been going on for more than a decade now, with both shows claiming to be the best reality singing competition in the world. Of course, both are insanely popular right now, but it looks like The Voice has a slightly fresher approach to the tired singing competition format, and that's why more promising singers try their luck winning The Voice before moving on to American Idol.
For instance, in the current 21st season of American Idol, Top 5 finalist Wé Ani and a bunch of other contestants actually started their careers on The Voice but were eliminated there and moved on to the rival show.
So if there's a tradition of The Voice rejects attempting to win American Idol, this should also work the other way round, right?
Well, not really. As some fans argue, American Idol is a much tougher competition than The Voice because all the finalists become real stars, touring the USA together and building their fan base throughout the nation. In contrast, The Voice finalists rarely become super popular because the judges and producers pay almost no attention to the singers' qualities other than their voices, not investing as much time into improving their stage presence or public image.
That's why American Idol is the last stop before stardom, and if a singer fails there, they have no reason to join The Voice.
'Idol just also seems a lot more grueling and hardcore than Voice, so I'm assuming once you finish Idol, you're terrified to do it all again,’ one fan noted.
That doesn't mean that some of the singers haven't tried it. Sundance Head is the most prominent example: he was in the Top 16 of American Idol Season 6 and won The Voice competition sometime later, becoming a huge star in the process.
So fans can surely expect some of their favorite artists from Season 21 to join The Voice at some point in the future. For instance, Kaeyra, Olivia, and Elise could certainly try their luck on the show and probably kill the competition there with their American Idol skills.
