The concept of tracking professionals in both their work and personal lives has proven to be an excellent fit for a long-running television series. Of all the shows in the franchise, Chicago Fire is by far the most cherished. The cast and writers of the show have managed to create a truly remarkable atmosphere, with every single main character being integral to the project's success. However, there have been some weak links along the way.

Despite the majority of the show's main characters being consistently adored by the fandom, there were some problematic figures during the show's early years. One of them is still considered the most hated character in Chicago Fire history.

The character in question is Gabriela Dawson, the paramedic and wife of Matthew Casey. Although Gabriela initially appealed to viewers with her good looks, fans' affection for her dwindled as the seasons progressed. That happened primarily because she never seemed to take her duties seriously, focusing primarily on her personal life rather than assisting fellow firefighters.

Furthermore, her marriage to Casey was a complete disaster. The couple was constantly at odds, and fans frequently sided with Casey, viewing Gabriela as the more problematic partner.

When Casey and Gabriela began to argue about pregnancy, fans' dislike for her reached an unprecedented level. Her refusal to consider Casey's perspective on having children painted her as a self-centred bully.

'When Gabby went on that "my body my choice" thing with Casey…it solidified she was the worst to be honest. He said you can’t make these baby decisions without me and she was telling him he can’t have a say. They wrote her off insane,' a fan pointed out.

So, when Gabriela exited the show after Season 6 to work as a paramedic in Puerto Rico, fans were relieved to finally see her go and be able to enjoy the show without her distracting presence.
