Everything you need to know about Bridgerton's newest star.

Every fan of Netflix's romantic drama Bridgerton is eagerly awaiting the release of its first spin-off series, Queen Charlotte, which focuses on the young years of the eponymous character. Newcomer India Amarteifio is set to play the queen herself, and it looks like Shonda Rhimes has once again proven that she has a great eye for spotting talent in young actors, as Amarteifio is certainly a performer to watch.

Here's everything you need to know about the Queen Charlotte star.

India Amarteifio's age

Despite her long career on screen and stage, India is only 21 years old, although some fans have commented that she looks even younger. And it's pretty impressive to be headlining the spin-off of a hugely successful show at such a young age, don't you think?

India got her start in theater

At the age of 11, India joined the Richmond Academy of Dance and then enrolled at the Sylvia Young Theatre School. With an education like this, it's no wonder that she began appearing on stage in London in her early teens, making her West End debut as the young Nala in The Lion King at the age of 12! India went on to star in productions such as Matilda the Musical and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

India is a 'veteran' of British TV

While many American viewers first heard of India through the casting of Queen Charlotte, she has been quite well known in the UK for quite some time, appearing in cult TV shows like Line of Duty, The Tunnel, and even an episode of Doctor Who.

Most recently, India starred in a supporting role in Sky Max's adaptation of The Midwich Cuckoos, making people even more excited to finally see her in the lead role as Queen Charlotte.

India is already seen as a big rising star

While the actress' biggest role is yet to be seen by fans, some critics are already calling India a star in the making, with Variety putting her on their list of 10 Brits to watch and Tatler magazine naming her a Bright Young Thing.

Queen Charlotte will arrive on Netflix on May 4, 2023.
