When Young Sheldon Seasons 5 & 6 Will Be Available on Netflix?
The popular sitcom is anticipated by millions of Netflix subscribers.
CBS' prequel series to the insanely popular The Big Band Theory was expected to be a pointless money grab when it was first announced, but with its next six seasons, Young Sheldon proved to be a worthy hit of its own, and even some viewers who hated the original sitcom came to enjoy the spin-off.
However, while the upcoming Season 7 is set to be the show's last, some fans are still unable to watch the previous two installments, as Netflix has yet to premiere Seasons 5 and 6 in most territories. Here's when the final two seasons will arrive on the streaming platform.
First of all, we must point out that Netflix will probably never show Young Sheldon in the US, as Warner Bros. Television airs it on CBS stateside. However, the company has the rights to stream the series in the UK, Australia, and Canada, and the first four chapters of Young Sheldon are already available there, but Season 5 is still to be released in the UK.
Even though Season 5 aired in the US all the way back in 2021, it is only available on Netflix in Canada, where it premiered in September 2022, and in Australia since February this year. Fans over in the UK won't get a chance to see the fifth installment until July 5, 2023, when it will officially premiere on Netflix. But what about the sixth season?
Season 6 premiered on CBS in September 2022, but Netflix will have to wait a long time to snag the rights to Young Sheldon's penultimate season, as Warner Bros. Television has no interest in ruining its own ratings to please Netflix subscribers. It's been reported that the sixth installment of Young Sheldon will probably hit Netflix in late 2023 or early 2024, with Canadian viewers getting the season much earlier than residents of the UK or Australia.
This also means that American audiences will see the upcoming final season years earlier than people in other English-speaking countries, which is certainly a huge bummer for all Young Sheldon fans around the globe. Unfortunately, that's the way streaming works these days, as every network wants to keep their viewers for as long as possible and use reruns to make more money.
