When Calls the Heart: Sorry, Team Nathan, But Him & Elizabeth Have Zero Chemistry

Hallmark's When Calls the Heart has been frequently mentioned as one of the best melodramas on the air since its release in 2014, but it looks like the praise for the show may stop after the current season, as the writers have made the biggest mistake possible - breaking up the show's main couple, Lucas and Elizabeth.
In the last episode, fans were shocked to learn that Elizabeth decided not to support her lover in his quest to become the next governor, and she did it for the stupidest reason ever - she was afraid to move to Capitol City for four years, as she was already used to living in Hope Valley. It seemed like a very illogical decision for the brave woman she was before, and fans began to accuse the writers of ruining the character forever.
The New Boyfriend
However, the writers didn't just break up Elizabeth and Lucas, they actually made it clear that Elizabeth already has someone in mind as a potential new boyfriend. We are, of course, talking about Nathan, who has been flirting with Elizabeth for the past few seasons.
And even though some of the show's fans actually like this pairing, there's just one problem standing in Nathan and Elizabeth's way - they don't have any chemistry together. They are both pretty bland in terms of personality and charisma, and they are only considered great when surrounded by other interesting characters like Lucas.
Fans don't understand why the writers try to make them a thing, since they are both better off without each other. While it's obvious that Elizbeth should stay with Lucas, Nathan shouldn't be chasing after her at all, as the show has a lot of other female characters that are perfect for him.
The likes of Faith, Mei, and Fiona have all been sidelined for a long time now, and fans feel that pairing one of them with Nathan can really help the show, as Elizabeth being the only female lead has been irritating fans for quite some time.
When Calls the Heart Season 10 Episode 12 will premiere on Hallmark on October 15, 2023.
