The TBBT star says the experience of reprising his iconic role has been 'beautiful.'

Summary

  • TBBT's Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik will reprise their roles in Young Sheldon's finale.
  • The actor is happy with the way his adult character's appearance is written into the spinoff's plot.
  • Both Parsons and Bialik were uneasy on set.

When it premiered in 2017, Young Sheldon became an instant hit, challenging the popularity of its parent series, The Big Bang Theory. The spinoff, which chronicles the childhood of future Nobel laureate Dr. Sheldon Cooper, won over international audiences with its Texas vibe, family drama and hilarious jokes. As a result, YS has spanned six seasons, with the seventh installment currently airing.

Unfortunately, all things must come to an end, so Season 7 will be Young Sheldon's last. Naturally, viewers have high expectations for the final season of the beloved sitcom, which have already been met with the news that Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik, who played Sheldon and Amy, respectively, on TBBT, will reprise their roles in the finale. And recently, the actor dropped a hint about what we can expect from the final episode of Young Sheldon.

Jim Parsons on the Young Sheldon Finale

As an EP and narrator on Young Sheldon, Jim Parsons has been involved in the production of the sitcom since Season 1. Needless to say, the TBBT star has grown emotionally attached to the spin-off over the years, which is why his own full-blown cameo had such a profound effect on him.

'It was even more beautiful than I expected it to be. One of the reasons I was excited to do it was because what they wrote, I think, is so sweet. And I think they worked Mayim and I into that last show so beautifully,' Jim Parsons recently commented on his and Mayim Bialik's cameos.

While the actor didn't reveal any details about what his character does in the final episode of Young Sheldon, he did share his feelings about the otherworldly experience of reprising the role. Remarkably, stepping foot on the set of the spinoff made Parsons realize how much time has passed since TBBT ended and how much older he is as an actor.

Another Life

Interestingly, Jim Parsons felt like a complete stranger on the set of Young Sheldon, even though he has been the narrator the whole time. First of all, it was a 'weird' experience for him to work with the cast of the sitcom for the first time. Also, the way YS is filmed is different from TBBT, as the spinoff is a single-camera show, while the original series is multicam.

'We finished our first read-through of the scene, we didn't tape it,' Jim Parsons recalled his time on the set of Young Sheldon. 'Mayim nailed it when she walked back. She said, "Hm, I thought I'd feel a lot more confident than this." I was like, "Me too!" I really thought it would be like putting on a pair of old shoes.'

Apparently it wasn't, and the two actors were nervous about reprising their roles. But it remains a mystery what the characters will do in the spin-off finale.

Episode 6 of Young Sheldon Season 7 is scheduled to premiere on April 4.
