Here's everything you need to know about the upcoming season.

Our Flag Means Death from Max is one of the most remarkable projects the streaming giant released in 2022. The motley crew of LGBTQ+ pirates instantly won over viewers, who began looking forward to the return of Taika Waititi's Blackbeard as soon as the first season was over. Fortunately, Max promptly renewed the show for a second season, slated to premiere this week.

All the main cast members, including Waititi and Rhys Darby, are expected to return for the second installment. This time, they will be joined by none other than Minnie Driver, who will portray the legendary real-life pirate, Annie Bonny. But when exactly is the show set to premiere?

OFMD Release Date and Time Explained

Fans of the unique pirate saga will be relieved to know they won't have to wait months for their favorite show's return. Max has officially confirmed October 5 as the premiere date for the second season. Even better, the first three episodes of the new season will be made available for streaming on the first day, quenching the thirst fans have been struggling with for nearly a year and a half.

The episodes will drop on Thursday at 3 am ET/12 am PT. Viewers are already planning watch parties and preparing snacks to celebrate the return of this universally adored feel-good show.

After that, the next episodes will be released in pairs every week, with only the final, 8th episode being released on its own - on October 26.

Promising Season

Thanks to the impressive trailer for Season 2, fans are confident that the show will return with full force, maintaining its high direction and performance standards. It's quite surprising that Taika Waititi, despite his busy schedule, found time to film the entire season of OFMD, even while being involved in several other big projects recently.

Waititi's passion for the show is evident, as he not only stars in it but also co-created and produced it. With one of Hollywood's most cherished comedians on board, the show's second season will likely gain momentum and potentially break into the mainstream.
