The actor is ready for the next step.

Summary

  • The beloved heartthrob has signed on to star in the new mystery film, which is said to feature killer sharks.
  • While the strike is still in effect, Henderson has decided to travel to Australia to work until filming begins on new seasons of Virgin River.

For many actors, securing a starring role on a hit Netflix show might be the pinnacle of their career and a sign that they should stop looking for other projects, but that's not the case for Martin Henderson, the star of Virgin River.

The actor landed a starring role in the Netflix melodrama after rising to fame on Grey's Anatomy, where he played Dr. Nathan Riggs for two years. But that hasn't stopped Henderson from experimenting with his career, and his chilling role in the 2022 horror film X is the most striking evidence of that, as no one expected to see a melodrama actor in such an unusual auteur film. And it looks like Henderson has become quite addicted to starring in horror movies.

Henderson's new movie, explained

It was recently announced that the actor will star in the upcoming Australian film, but not even a title has been released. Despite the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, Henderson will be able to work as Australian projects have been approved for production by the union.

Despite the lack of information about the upcoming feature, some details have managed to reach the fans, as some people online have already spoiled the supposed synopsis of the movie.

Henderson will star as a veteran surfer who works to free killer whales to ward off sharks. While the plot may sound a little crazy, fans are expecting the movie to become a cult favorite, perhaps gaining the same status that the Sharknado movies now enjoy.

One thing is for sure, Henderson will look totally cool as a surfer, as his charisma and good looks will allow him to melt hearts just like he did at Virgin River.

Henderson is also currently filming a half-hour dramedy with Rachel Griffiths called Madam, which will tell the story of a woman who decides to open an ethical brothel to help her family. As with the untitled shark movie, fans are looking forward to seeing Henderson in other projects and are more than happy to see how adeptly the actor chooses his new roles.
