Wednesday Season 3 Release Date Rumors Are Taking Over — What We Know So Far

Netflix has been tight-lipped, but speculation is heating up fast, with viewers desperate to know when Jenna Ortega will return as everyone’s favorite gothic sleuth.
We are literally hours away from the final four episodes of Wednesday season 2 dropping, so of course the conversation has already jumped ahead to season 3. Fair. But before we sprint into the future, there is still a Part 2 to wrap up, a cliffhanger to resolve, and a whole bunch of new faces to properly meet.
Right now: Season 2 Part 2 lands in a few hours
Netflix rolled out a sneak peek last month, and these last four episodes pick things up with all the usual suspects plus the shiny new additions: Billie Piper, Joanna Lumley, and Christopher Lloyd among them. Expect answers to the Part 1 cliffhanger and, knowing this show, probably a few new problems to obsess over.
So when could season 3 drop?
No date yet. If you look at the wait between seasons 1 and 2, you could reasonably brace yourself for 2028. That said, the 2023 WGA strikes slowed everything industry-wide, which likely inflated that gap. If there are no major disruptions this time, the turnaround should be tighter.
Here is the inside-baseball bit: in August 2025, reports said season 3 is slated to film in 2026. That puts a 2027 release very much in play. Netflix officially renewed Wednesday in July 2025, before season 2 even hit, so the train is on the tracks — it just has a long route.
"Our goal for season 3 is the same as it is for every season: to make it the best season of Wednesday we possibly can. We want to continue digging deeper into our characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday."
— Alfred Gough, co-creator/co-showrunner
"We will be seeing more Addams Family members and learning more family secrets in season 3!"
— Miles Millar, co-creator/co-showrunner
Who is likely back (and who is out)?
- Probable returnees: Jenna Ortega (Wednesday Addams), Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Hunter Doohan (Tyler Galpin), Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay), Moosa Mostafa (Eugene), Georgie Farmer (Ajax), Victor Dorobantu (Thing), Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), Luis Guzman (Gomez Addams), Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley Addams), Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo (Sheriff Ritchie Santiago), Fred Armisen (Uncle Fester), Billie Piper (Isadora Capri), Steve Buscemi (Principal Barry Dort), Joanna Lumley (Grandmama Hester Frump).
- Confirmed exits: the show has already marked Donovan Galpin (Jamie McShane), Laurel Gates (Christina Ricci), and Dr Rachael Fairburn (Thandiwe Newton) as dead. Also, co-creator Alfred Gough has said we have seen the last of Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White).
- Guest stars: season 2 has been stacked with guest appearances, and season 3 should keep that revolving door spinning.
What might season 3 be about?
Nothing concrete yet. Safe bet: Wednesday back at Nevermore with another mystery to pick apart, and more Addams relatives showing up to complicate her life in entertaining ways. Gough and Millar keep saying the plan is to dig deeper into the characters while widening the world — which is basically code for more lore, more family secrets, and probably more chaos.
How many episodes?
Not confirmed, but the smart money is on another eight, just like seasons 1 and 2.
Any footage for season 3?
No trailer yet. For now, there is that season 2 Part 2 sneak peek from last month if you need something to chew on.
Where to watch right now
Wednesday season 2 Part 1 is streaming on Netflix, with the final four episodes landing imminently. Netflix plans start from £5.99 a month, and the service is also available on Sky Glass and Virgin Media Stream.
