We're Getting House of the Dragon Season 2 in 2024 After All

The days of networks and streaming services releasing their shows on a tight annual schedule are long gone, as fans have gotten used to waiting two or even three years to get the next batch of episodes of their beloved series.

Of course, as technology advances, production becomes more complicated, but it's still a little strange to wait so long between seasons of Stranger Things when shows like Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad release new seasons every year.

And it looks like HBO is well aware of fans' dissatisfaction with this practice and is trying to get their shows out as soon as possible. Fortunately, House of the Dragon's production team seems ready to confirm Season 2's release date.

A complicated project

HotD is undoubtedly one of the most impressive shows on the air right now, so fans were perfectly willing to wait a few years to return to the world of Westeros.

However, the latest rumors suggest that the wait may not be as long as expected, as the sources revealed that HBO is confident that the second season of the fantasy saga will premiere in the summer of 2024, less than two years after the first season ended in October 2022.

There will be fewer episodes

While such an update is certainly promising, it's important to note that the second season of the show will be significantly shorter than the first installment, as HBO confirmed that it will consist of only 8 episodes.

Fans are obviously upset about this and accuse HBO of cutting costs, but some of them are actually quite happy about the decision, arguing that with fewer episodes HotD will be able to return sooner than expected as post-production will take less time.

In any case, HBO is once again proving to be one of the most respectable networks out there, as the executives are not forcing fans to wait insane amounts of time for the return of the shows, which really helps the network to elevate itself among the likes of Netflix and Amazon Prime.
