The actor added some spice to his pre-taped interview.

My Best Friend's Wedding actor Dermot Mulroney has been experiencing something of a renaissance lately, joining the MCU as President Ritson in Secret Invasion.

However, fans of the actor were surprised to hear that he walked off the stage in the middle of his interview on The View, and many are wondering if Mulroney was insulted by the show's hosts — or if they were insulted by his sudden walkout. Here's what actually happened.

Earlier last week, Dermot Mulroney visited The View to plug his new show Secret Invasion, and it looks like this episode, which is set to air on Friday, is going to become one of the most watched in the show's recent history. According to insiders who have watched it, Mulroney walked off the stage after his portion of the interview was over, saying that he supported the WGA strike. But was his exit planned, or did it come after some comments from the hosts that upset the actor?

Obviously, Mulroney's exit had nothing to do with The View itself, as the actor simply felt the need to support the strike on national television and announced his possible exit to the hosts in advance, according to a fan who watched the taped episode.

'I watched. He did the whole interview and then announced at the end that he was walking off. It was planned as a symbolic gesture. Nothing spontaneous about it,' the fan explained.

The fact that Mulroney returned to the stage during a commercial break to take pictures with the hosts also proves that his gesture had nothing to do with anger. Apparently, the actor was just trying to draw the audience's and producers' attention to the important cause, but some fans still found his decision to leave the show selfish, arguing that the exit was meant to promote Mulroney himself rather than the WGA strike.

'And then he came back during the break to take photos with them. And this was after his interview was complete… So, it was just the end of the segment but they called it a "walk off" to symbolically recognize the strike? It sounds kind of weird and contrived,' one fan said.
