Fans are upset about the staggered release schedule.

For five years, Virgin River has stood out as one of the most beloved melodramas in Netflix's catalogue. There are good reasons for that. People are drawn to the cosy atmosphere of the eponymous town, its residents and the show's heartwarming stories. Even though the writing has somewhat declined in quality in recent seasons, the central romance between Mel and Jack remains as engaging as it was during the first season.

With Mel pregnant and a wedding on the horizon, it's no surprise that fans are psyched to see Season 5. However, it seems that Netflix won't be dropping the entire season for binge-watching in one go.

Netflix just unveiled the eagerly anticipated official trailer for Season 5 yesterday. The action-packed preview teased numerous plotlines, but viewers were particularly excited to catch glimpses of Jack and Mel together, fervently hoping that this season won't see the writers attempting to separate the fan-favourite couple by introducing unnecessary drama and complications. However, while the trailer's arrival was cause for celebration, there was one significant detail in the title that dampened the mood considerably.

Given the long wait for the show's return, the inclusion of 'Part 1' in the trailer's title understandably sparked an outrage among fans. People were immediately on to Netflixs plan to stagger the season's release by dividing it into two parts.

The official word is out: the first segment of Season 5, consisting of ten episodes, will be out on 7 September. Meanwhile, the season's second part, featuring two holiday-themed episodes, is slated for a 30 November release. It's a sizable gap between the two sets of episodes, don't you think, especially for Netflix whose subscribers are used to having access to all the episodes whenever a new season is released?

Fans are mighty upset about having to wait more than two months to see the end of Season 5, and are accusing Netflix of denying them access to the complete narrative all at once.

'Oh, for God's sake, we had to wait this long and then we will have to wait longer for Part 2? I object! I strenuously object!' a fan said.
