Virgin River Season 5 Episode 9 Hints at Nick Being Mel's Real Dad
A big twist awaits fans.
Since 2019, Netflix's Virgin River has been one of the most popular melodramas on streaming, as fans loved the story of Mel, an LA nurse who moved to a quiet California town in search of new life, new friends, and new love. Thankfully, she found all of that in a matter of months, giving fans the feel-good show we had all been waiting for during the harsh years of the pandemic. That said, the later seasons of the show certainly struggled to maintain the outstanding quality of the first seasons, and some fans were a bit worried that Season 5 would be a total flop.
Fortunately, the writers decided to fix their past mistakes and made the recently released episodes some of the most exciting and thrilling in the show's history. And it looks like the upcoming second part of Season 5 might be even more shocking.
The real father
In the final moments of the first half of Season 5, Mel and Jack were decorating their new house for Christmas when the idyll was shattered by Mel's sister, who suddenly announced that she had found the love letters their mother had been hiding and that they were not from their father.
In a truly melodramatic twist, it was revealed that the man who had written those letters to Mel's mother had actually moved to Virgin River, and that he might be Mel's real father. But who could that be?
A few suspects
While most fans were quick to suspect Doc of being the father, others argued that he already had a history of being a secret father, and the writers would probably choose another older gentleman for this twist.
Obviously, the most reasonable candidate for the role is Nick, one of the most questionable characters on the show, and while fans would hate to learn that he is Mel's real father, it certainly makes for some scenes, at least story-wise.
'Please not handsy Nick! That would make his criminal sister (Melissa) Mel’s aunt. Maybe it is a person they have never shown yet on the show,' said one devastated fan.
Virgin River Season 5 Part 2 will be available on Netflix on November 30, 2023.
