Virgin River's Cameron & Muriel Make No Sense, And Not Because She's Older

Since 2019, Netflix's Virgin River has been delighting fans with the cozy atmosphere of a small town and various interesting romantic relationships between the show's characters. During the first four seasons, many characters came together and drifted apart, forcing fans to worry about even the show's main couple - Jack and Mel. However, it looks like the recently released first part of season 5 just became the most dramatic episode of Virgin River yet.

While the writers hinted that Mel's real father may have been living in Virgin River all this time and revealed the true identity of the father of Charmaine's twins, fans were much more interested in the new romance introduced this season, that between Cameron and Muriel.

An unlikely couple

Yes, Dr. Cameron, who tried to get Mel pregnant last season, is now dating Muriel, the actress and member of Virgin River's knitting circle. If that sounds a little weird to you, rest assured that you are not alone.

The fact that Cameron is significantly younger than Muriel doesn't really shock fans, even though the age difference between them is more than 15 years. It's the fact that the writers, who had already made it clear that Cameron wanted to have children, basically changed the character for no apparent reason, since Muriel probably can't have children anymore.

'The actress who plays Muriel is 60. The actor who plays Cameron is 45. Okay, these kinds of relationships do sometimes happen. Usually the other way around, older guys/younger women. Cameron has already said he wants kids. How is that going to figure into this because Muriel is well past the age of childbearing,' a fan said.

Still, it's not clear why the writers would make two characters fall in love and make fans happy for them, only to take that happiness away in the future, as Cameron's dream of having children will surely drive him and Muriel apart in the seasons to come.

It looks like we have to hope that Muriel and Cameron will just adopt a kid together.
