Jenna Ortega is determined to make the second season even better.

Even though Wednesday became Netflix's biggest hit last year, with millions of viewers falling head over heels for Jenna Ortega's take on the beloved Addams Family character, some fans weren't entirely pleased with the first installment. In particular, people lambasted the show's lighthearted atmosphere and some unnecessary changes made to the protagonist's personality.

Fortunately, it looks like Ortega herself is on the same page with the fans, making it clear that the upcoming Season 2 will be quite different from the first.

After the success of the first season, Netflix decided to make Ortega an even more important presence on the show, making her a producer of the upcoming installment. Thanks to that, the young actress is now in full control of the show's creative vision, and the changes she brings to the table are eagerly supported by fans.

It's no secret that Ortega was against Wednesday being part of a love triangle, arguing that romantic relationships are not something her character is known for.

'We've decided we want to lean into the horror aspect of the show a little bit more. Because it is so lighthearted, and a show like this with vampires and werewolves and superpowers, you don't want to take yourself too seriously. We're ditching any romantic love interest for Wednesday, which is really great,' Ortega said.

Yes, it's finally official — Wednesday will not be romantically involved with any characters in the second season. This is definitely great news for fans, who all hated the half-baked mess of a love triangle in Season 1.

Moreover, the fact that the show will lean into horror territory is delighting fans too, as the first season looked more like a teenage drama than a show following one of the darkest characters out there.

All in all, it's great that Netflix decided to allow Ortega to have more creative output on the project, as the first season's success was largely a result of her amazing performance. Let's hope that the actress sticks to her words, making the series' second installment even better than the first one.
