Fans love this romance to death.

While ABC's The Rookie may look a lot like other primetime police procedurals at first glance, its true beloved status comes not from the weekly criminal cases, but from the chemistry the cast has with each other.

With Nathan Fillion's great performance as John Nolan at the center, other characters have been given enough time to develop into truly fan-favorite figures, and Lucy Chen and Tim Bradford are the most striking examples of this careful and fruitful character development.

Early on in the show, Lucy and Tim seemed like total enemies, getting on each other's nerves at every appropriate and inappropriate opportunity, and fans loved the dynamic between them. But even though the two were making each other uncomfortable, viewers suspected that there might be something going on between them in the future.

And they were not wrong, as the writers finally made Lucy and Tim a romantic couple not too long ago, after keeping the fans guessing for a couple of seasons. In no time, Chenford became the most adored ship in the entire series, and their relationship gets better and better with each new episode.

Some fans are certain that it was Chenford's evolution from enemies to lovers that made their eventual pairing so special, as overcoming relationship difficulties always leads to the most satisfying endings on television.

'Their arc took their time, they spent enough time apart at work for it not to be weird with him being her boss, they helped each other through very personal and very hard stuff, to develop their friendship outside of work. They tried to avoid it, dated other people, tried to be happy for each other while dating other people, but they were endgame from the start,' one fan wrote on Reddit.

While people love to follow Tim and Lucy in their current state, some of the fans are already getting impatient to see the two take the next step and want to see them tie the knot in the upcoming Season 5. A simple engagement will be fine too, so The Rookie writers should definitely listen to the fans' wishes!
