It seems Meghan was able to surprise people with her choice of wedding dress.

Ever since Meghan Markle married Prince Harry and joined the royal family, comparisons have been drawn between her and Kate Middleton, the wife of Prince William. Both women are undeniably beautiful, but royal fans adore Middleton for her unwavering support of Queen Elizabeth and the fact that she’s never broken ranks and stirred controversy for its own sake the way Meghan did.

It seems that even Kate and Meghan's wedding dresses reflected their attitudes toward the royal family.

Kate's iconic wedding dress in 2011 became a sensation, inspiring millions of brides worldwide. In contrast, Meghan's 2018 dress came in for a great deal of sharp criticism, with many people claiming the Duchess of Sussex made the wrong call and settled on a design that didn’t look particularly good on her.

‘I do think Meghan’s dress was beautiful in theory, but the execution was poor. Not the right fabric and she drove the designer crazy with her fickle demands. Objectively speaking, it’s a gorgeous design,’ a fan said.

However, the most significant difference between the two dresses was the neckline, not the overall design. As the future king's wife, Kate opted for a simple yet slightly revealing V-neck, while Meghan chose a boat neck design that exposed parts of her shoulders.

Meghan's dress was decidedly more revealing than Kate's, leading some to accuse her of disregarding the royal code and attempting to resemble a superstar rather than a future duchess. Some fans also believe Meghan's admiration for another famous royal bride was ill-advised.

‘Well, Meghan was probably channeling her muse, Diana, whose dress was also wrinkled and had a few design flaws that didn't stand up to a royal wedding,’ another fan said.

Regardless, Kate's dress attracted over 600,000 visitors to Buckingham Palace in 2011 to view it in person, while Meghan's dress was largely forgotten weeks after her wedding. While both dresses were beautifully designed, one simply suited the bride and the other did not, and this has no bearing on how fans of the royal family perceive Meghan.
