The Mandalorian and Grogu Movie Star Teases Mando’s Unlikely New Partner: Rotta the Hutt

Rotta the Hutt speaks at last, breaking years of silence with a message that hints at a sweeping power realignment across Hutt Space—one that could rattle syndicates from Nar Shaddaa to Coruscant.
Star Wars is heading back to theaters next year, and Jeremy Allen White just slipped the most useful hint so far about what is actually going on in 'The Mandalorian and Grogu'. Short version: expect a surprising amount of screen time with a certain baby Hutt and a certain beskar dad.
Marketing has been pretty coy up to now. There is a public trailer, plus extra footage that screened only for attendees at Star Wars Celebration 2025, but neither spelled out the plot. What we did see: Mando and Grogu mixing it up with anti-Imperial troublemakers, and a quick, eyebrow-raising glimpse of Rotta the Hutt (yes, Jabba's kid) in what looked like a gladiator-style arena.
Then White went on 'The Graham Norton Show' on Oct. 19, 2025, and tossed out this nugget:
'It is kind of like him and the Mandalorian running around for a lot of the movie together.'
On whether Rotta can actually run: 'Rotta can move, yeah, quickly.'
So, not a full plot synopsis, but clear enough: a big chunk of the movie pairs Rotta with Din Djarin. Also, apparently, Hutts are faster than they look. Noted.
Quick Rotta refresher
If the name is ringing a distant bell, Rotta first showed up in the 2008 'The Clone Wars' movie. Back then, Separatists kidnapped him, and Anakin Skywalker and his brand-new Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, had to track the kid down and hand him back to Jabba. It was a snatch-and-recover setup that, in hindsight, feels very much in the Mandalorian wheelhouse.
Who is in this thing, and when do we see it?
Jeremy Allen White joins the cast, Pedro Pascal is back under the helmet as Din Djarin, Sigourney Weaver plays a Republic official, and Grogu is, of course, back for more. 'The Mandalorian and Grogu' hits theaters on May 22, 2026.
