The List of Celebs Who Are Definitely In for Met Gala 2023 (& 5 Who Are Out)
The Met Ball's theme this year hints at who may be among the guests.
Met Gala 2023 is just around the corner, and many fans are now wondering which celebrities are going to appear at the world's most prestigious fashion event.
Although we aren't going to know the exact answer to this question until May 2, which is when the gala will take place, we can still speculate about who's going to be among the guests, as well as who is unlikely to attend the event this year.
First, let's recap who is definitely going to make it to the Met Gala 2023. Anna Wintour, Vogue's editor-in-chief will host the event, as she has done for the past many years, and she will share her duties with four stars: Penelope Cruz, Michaela Coel, Dua Lipa, and Roger Federer.
Beyond these names, we can't be sure about who else may show up — so how about we take a few guesses now?
Luckily, we already know the theme of this year's fundraising event — despite the controversy, the 2023 Met Gala will be dedicated to the late Karl Lagerfeld, who served as creative director of Chanel for more than three decades. This suggests that stars associated with Lagerfeld and/or Chanel are likely to be invited to this year's ball.
Among those celebrities who were close to Lagerfeld are Kristen Stewart, Gigi Hagrid, Tilda Swinton, Helen Mirren, and Blake Lively, who was also one of last year's co-chairs. And there are also lots of stars affiliated with Chanel as brand ambassadors — Margot Robbie, Marion Cotillard, Nicole Kidman, Vanessa Paradis, Margaret Qualley, and Sofia Coppola are just the beginning of the list.
Other people expected to be there include Tailor Swift, Cara Delevingne, and Louis Vuitton men's fashion director, Pharrell Williams.
As for those who are not going to appear at the event… After all five Kardashian siblings (plus Kris) attended the Met Gala last year, there were rumors that for 2023 their presence was declared to be undesirable by Anna Wintour, who has overseen the theme and guest list since 1995.
However, these rumors appear to be unsubstantiated, and a few Kardashians (most likely, Kim) may still show up at the event this year.
However, we do know of at least five celebrities who won't make it to the Met Gala 2023. Those include Harry Styles, who voiced his intent to skip the event, perhaps because he's not too keen on running into a bunch of his exes.
Jonathan Majors wanted to attend, but his arrest on domestic violence charges put an end to those plans. Furthermore, people like Lili Reinhart, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Lena Dunham are not likely to be invited again after they publicly discussed their negative experiences at previous Met Galas.
The 2023 Met Gala will be live-streamed on Vogue's official website and across the magazine's digital platforms (as well as on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter).
