It looks like Tedros is not the real monster in the story.

Sam Levinson and The Weeknd's vanity project The Idol became the most talked-about series of this summer, but all the buzz has nothing to do with how great or compelling the show is. The new series has received a lot of backlash for the unnecessary amount of nudity and violent content, but despite all this criticism, The Idol continues to boast pretty good viewership numbers.

Many fans are apparently hooked on the story, curious to find out what will happen to sleazy cult leader Tedros (The Weeknd) and pop star Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp) in the series' finale. And it looks like some people are ready to predict how The Idol story will end, as the recently released Episode 4 revealed a surprise change in the main characters' dynamics.

Throughout the episode, Jocelyn was beginning to question Tedros' influence over her, and The Weeknd's character became quite concerned about that. In true cult leader fashion, he decided to torture Jocelyn's creative director, Xavier, to find out something about the pop star.

To the surprise of both Tedros and viewers, Xavier revealed that Jocelyn herself is far worse than her supposedly abusive mother. He also warned Tedros that Jocelyn may be using him too, even if he thinks he is in control.

With that in mind, fans began to think that the upcoming two episodes will turn Jocelyn into the real villain in the story, painting Tedros simply as a tool she used to get what she wanted.

'They dropped plenty of hints in the last few episodes, definitely touched on themes of her using Tedros to get what she wants, but I think the scene with Xander and the shock collar made this 100% clear,' one fan summed up.

If this fan theory is true, this finale would definitely be one of the most fascinating plot twists in recent television history, cementing Sam Levinson's status as a provocateur. On the other hand, it's unclear how the audience will react to such a twist, as it makes the seemingly innocent female character an even bigger villain than The Weeknd's abusive and predatory cult leader.

The Idol Episode 5 will be released on July 2, 2023.
