The Girlfriend cast revealed: All the stars joining Prime Video's buzzy new thriller

Robin Wright faces off against Olivia Cooke in Prime Video's The Girlfriend, where sharp smiles hide even sharper secrets—here's the full cast making this thriller a must-watch.
Prime Video has a new duel on its hands — and it is literally a house vs. House. Robin Wright from 'House of Cards' goes toe-to-toe with Olivia Cooke from 'House of the Dragon' in 'The Girlfriend', a glossy, needling thriller where a mother and her son’s new partner quietly (and not-so-quietly) try to outmaneuver each other. It is one of those shows where a polite smile is basically a threat.
The setup
Based on Michelle Frances' hit novel, 'The Girlfriend' follows Laura, an affluent art-gallery owner who cannot shake the feeling that her son Daniel’s whirlwind romance with Cherry is not quite what it seems. Laura starts digging. Cherry digs back. What kicks off as a new relationship turns into a turf war over Daniel — who is smart, training to be a doctor, and still somehow a little oblivious to the chess match happening around him.
Extra irony for the title-watchers: Cherry sells houses and dreams of fixing the housing crisis; Daniel’s dad is a big-time property developer. So yes, it is a house vs. House vs. houses situation. Subtle? Not really. Effective? Very.
Expect plenty of passive-aggressive compliments, loaded glances, and the kind of tidy secrets that only stay tidy for about two episodes.
When and where to watch
'The Girlfriend' streams on Prime Video starting Wednesday 10 September 2025.

Robin Wright as Laura
Who she plays: Laura runs an art gallery and leads a very comfortable life. Her defining trait is fairly simple: she adores her son and will protect him at all costs. That protective instinct curdles into suspicion the second Cherry shows up. Is Laura seeing real red flags, or is this just a mother who cannot let go? The show has fun keeping that answer slippery.
Where you have seen her: Wright’s been part of the film canon since 'The Princess Bride', 'Forrest Gump', and 'Unbreakable'. She headlined Netflix’s 'House of Cards', then suited up as General Antiope in 'Wonder Woman' and 'Justice League'. She also turned up in 'Blade Runner 2049' and Netflix’s 'Damsel' with Millie Bobby Brown.
Olivia Cooke as Cherry Laine
Who she plays: Cherry is Daniel’s new girlfriend, a driven estate agent who talks about fixing the housing crisis and tries to navigate a wealthy social circle that does not always welcome her working-class background. The question is not whether she has a past — everyone does — but what exactly she is trying to keep out of sight.
Where you have seen her: Cooke broke out in 'Bates Motel', then jumped to films and prestige TV with 'Ready Player One', 'Sound of Metal', and 'Slow Horses'. Lately, she has been busy ruling Westeros (or trying to) as Alicent Hightower in 'House of the Dragon'.
Laurie Davidson as Daniel
Who he plays: Daniel is deep into medical training when a chance meeting with Cherry knocks him sideways. He dives into a fast, heady romance, while the two most determined women in his life quietly test each other’s fences.
Where you have seen him: Davidson has popped up in period intrigue 'Mary & George', true-crime drama 'A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story', and the Paramount Plus romcom 'The Road Trip'. He has also appeared in 'The Sandman' and Apple TV+’s 'Masters of the Air', and in 'The Last Kingdom' film 'Seven Kings Must Die'.
Waleed Zuaiter as Howard
Who he plays: Howard is Daniel’s dad and Laura’s husband, a high-flying property developer who lives the high-gloss version of success.
Where you have seen him: Zuaiter menaced London as Koba in 'Gangs of London', and turned up in Netflix’s 'Altered Carbon' and 'The Spy', plus Channel 4’s 'Baghdad Central'.
Tanya Moodie as Isabella
Who she plays: Isabella is Laura’s closest friend. She is wealthy, stylish, and very good at pouring a drink while providing tough-love pep talks — the unofficial therapist of this set.
Where you have seen her: Moodie’s highlights include Ella in 'Sherlock', Agatha in 'A Discovery of Witches', and Meg in 'Motherland'. Recent runs include 'Rain Dogs', 'Silo', 'The Change', and 'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power'.
Shalom Brune-Franklin as Brigitte
Who she plays: Brigitte is Isabella’s daughter and Daniel’s longtime friend. They grew up together and still have that easy shorthand — the kind of closeness that can look like a problem to a new girlfriend.
Where you have seen her: After 'Our Girl', Brune-Franklin joined 'Line of Duty' season 6 as DC Chloe Bishop, then moved through 'The Tourist', Steven Knight’s 'Great Expectations', the sci-fi prequel 'Dune: Prophecy', and Netflix phenomenon 'Baby Reindeer'.
Karen Henthorn as Tracey
Who she plays: Tracey is Cherry’s mum, which means her perspective on Cherry’s past matters a lot — if anyone will talk.
Where you have seen her: Henthorn recently appeared with Rebecca Hall in 'The Listeners'. Other credits: 'Time', 'The Good Ship Murder', 'The Trouble with Maggie Cole', and 'EastEnders', where she reprised Julie Bates.
Anna Chancellor as Lilith
Who she plays: Lilith is an artist who has worked with Laura before — which makes her both colleague and potential complication.
Where you have seen her: Chancellor earned a BAFTA nod for 'The Hour', and has been a staple in 'Spooks', 'The Crown', 'The Split', 'Hotel Portofino', and 'Rain Dogs'. Most recently she appeared in Prime Video’s 'My Lady Jane' and UKTV’s Mitford sisters drama 'Outrageous'.
Francesca Corney as Millie
Who she plays: Millie. Keep an eye on her; shows like this love a wildcard supporting player.
Leo Suter as Nicholas
Who he plays: Nicholas. Another piece on the board in a story where every relationship is leverage.
If you like your thrillers with silk gloves and sharp knives, this one arrives fully sharpened.
