Mockbuster alert: The Asylum unleashes Pandora: Fire and Ice, its riff on Avatar: Fire and Ash, and it’s available now on digital.

Because of course they did: The Asylum just dropped their latest mockbuster, 'Pandora: Fire and Ice', digitally, timing it with the new 'Avatar' sequel ('Avatar: Fire and Ash') heading to theaters on December 19. If you want to watch it right now, it is up on Amazon for $2.99 to rent or $9.99 to buy, and there is a trailer making the rounds.

This one is a follow-up to 2022's 'Battle for Pandora', which The Asylum rolled out alongside 'Avatar: The Way of Water'. Quick refresher on that first entry: Noah Luke directed from a script by Joe Roche and Rolfe Kanefsky. The plot kicks off when a distress signal from a research vessel reaches Earth, prompting the U.S. Space Force to send a rescue mission to Pandora — not that Pandora — theirs is a moon of Saturn. Once they try to land, they realize the place is home to a highly evolved humanoid species. You see where this is going.

Now 'Pandora: Fire and Ice' brings writer Joe Roche back for round two. The story leaps ahead decades after humanity's first contact with Pandora, when a new expedition shows up to squeeze out whatever resources are left. Bad timing: the alien population is gearing up to hit back at Earth. Canyon Prince directs this one; if that name rings a bell, he previously did 'The Final Level: Escaping Rancala' for The Asylum, pitched as 'Jumanji meets Ready Player One'. The cast includes Erika K. Marks, William McNamara, and the ever-busy Eric Roberts.
