And Just Like That… went the worst possible sequel route.

Viewers are wary of the sequels that have been popping up on various platforms lately. On the one hand, a show based on an old, beloved story and featuring characters who feel like friends and family is a powerful trip down memory lane. On the other hand, such spin-offs can easily ruin some fond memories and arcs that have been built up over the years.

This is exactly what the Sex and the City sequel And Just Like That… did to the story of Miranda Hobbes and Steve Brady.

'And Just Like That… all of my emotional investment in these two has been destroyed,' a fan wrote on Reddit, adding a bunch of romantic photos of Miranda and Steve and giving other fans a chance to vent their feelings on the matter.

Miranda met Steve in Season 2 of HBO's flagship show. Over the next five seasons and two movies, we watched their relationship develop and Steve go from one-night stand bartender to husband and father.

The relationship between Miranda and Steve was far from ideal. They were coming together and splitting, falling in love and falling apart, only to return stronger than ever. Fans still remember their emotional reunion on the Brooklyn Bridge, which made it seem like the two were finally together for good.

But that complicated and exciting journey was ruined by And Just Like That…, which showed Miranda and Steve's marriage reaching a dead end. Instead of being husband and wife, the two felt more like roommates who had completely given up on romance. To make matters worse, Miranda cheated on Steve with Che Diaz and then filed for divorce, claiming she had never been happy in the marriage.

What a way to flush the original story, along with the warm memories of the fans, down the drain!

'I always thought they did such an excellent job writing their storyline as a couple. It was a realistic portrayal of marriage. It's just so bizarre that they chose to go in this direction,' a Redditor complained. 'It seems like they thought no one would want to see a regular couple without any extreme romance or lust, but they missed the mark.'
