And that's not the only surprise in store for fans in this finale!

Dick Wolf's Law & Order franchise is still going strong after more than three decades on the air, as all of the show's spin-offs, including Organized Crime and SVU, are showing strong numbers, prompting NBC to keep them running.

Unlike other network shows (such as The Rookie) struggling to produce compelling crossover episodes, Law & Order excels at this difficult task. The upcoming crossover finale is highly anticipated by the fandom, and that's not just because people are eager to see Benson and Stabler working together again.

SVU's episode titled 'All Pain Is One Malady' and Organized Crime's episode 'With Many Names' will both be released on May 18 and will serve as the finales for both shows' current seasons. In addition, the two episodes will be linked, as Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler will work together to bring down a dangerous revenge-for-hire crime ring while battling the bureaucracy that can derail their entire investigation.

The suggestion of seeing Stabler and Benson together again is certainly tempting, especially as the two could finally become a couple by the end of the season. However, there's something else fans are even more excited about — according to reports, fan-favorite character Detective Amanda Rollins, played by Kelli Giddish, will return in the finale, making her first appearance since leaving SVU in December 2022.

Fans are already calling the upcoming crossover finale one of the best in SVU's long history, arguing that a high-stakes ending to a rather boring season is the right way to get the fandom excited about the show again. Additionally, viewers are hoping that Rollins will return for the upcoming season, as seeing her once in the finale and never seeing her again would be a very hard pill to swallow for her fans.

Both SVU and Organized Crime have been renewed by NBC for the next seasons, with Mariska Hargitay's series getting a full-season renewal, while Christopher Meloni's joint only received a half-season order. This leads fans to fear that Organized Crime might be canceled after the upcoming fourth season due to the notoriously bad atmosphere behind the scenes.

Next episodes of SVU and Organized Crime will air on NBC tonight, while the finales of both shows are scheduled for May 18, 2023.
