The iconic show is back with a bang.

It's hard to believe that the CBS reality show Survivor has been on the air for nearly twenty-five years. Each season feels as fresh and riveting as the very first one that premiered in the dim and distant 2000. Understandably, the producers constantly innovate to keep the show engaging for contemporary audiences, adopting diverse strategies each season. From the looks of it, the upcoming Season 45 promises to be one of the most distinctive Survivor instalments in recent memory.

While Jeff Probst remains the steadfast host and the beautiful Fiji Islands continue as the backdrop, CBS has an array of surprises up their sleeve. They've also addressed the primary concern fans raised during the last season.

More Time For Character Development

Though Season 44 gained momentum towards the end, its early episodes were marred by hasty character development. Each episode was so short that the contestants simply had no time to open up to the audience and talk about their backstories.

However, fans will be pleased to learn that this issue has been addressed. The upcoming season is set to feature 13 weekly episodes, each 90 minutes long! That essentially doubles the airtime, ensuring every contestant gets their moment in the limelight. But this raises the question: How long will the season be going on for in terms of days?

Number Of Days, Explained

Contrary to some fan speculation that Season 45 might have a reduced number of days, that isn't the case. Mirroring the last four seasons, contestants of Season 45 will spend 26 days in Fiji. Given the extended episode lengths, this season will be one of the longest Survivor experiences in its recent history.

The iconic reality show is scheduled to premiere on CBS on 27 September.
