Suits' Ridiculous Recurring Theme That Just Hits Differently in 2023

The show aged poorly.

USA Network's Suits is now best remembered for starring Prince Harry's future wife, Meghan Markle, rather than for the show itself. Still, that doesn't mean the financial drama isn't worth checking out in 2023, as interesting weekly cases and great writing make Suits quite a worthy project to binge on.

However, there are some aspects of the show that make it look ridiculous today, and fans especially point to one recurring theme that hasn't aged too well.

As a crime procedural with a financial twist, Suits delivers an engaging story with a primary focus on two male characters, New York lawyers. While such a male-centered narrative is already a bit problematic in today's day and age, modern viewers are especially concerned with how women were portrayed in the series. And they do have a reason for that because the show's approach to female characters comes across as dated and simply rude.

Suits devoted a lot of time to the characters' romantic storylines, but for some reason, the writers often ruined the relationships by making women cheat on their partners. Many fans point out that female infidelity is too common on the show, which makes it difficult to rewatch in 2023.

5 Eerie Similarities Between Suits' Rachel Zane and Meghan Markle

'You have no idea just how much cheating is in the show. It's unreal! Almost every main character cheats or crosses some sort of boundary, it's insane,' one fan said.

It seems that the series' writers could not realistically portray a happy romantic relationship, so every single romance on the show was ruined or questioned by a cheating scandal. At some point during Suits' run, this cheating bonanza became so tiresome that fans simply wished the show did not feature any romance at all.

Interestingly, some people have come up with an explanation for why Suits feels so dated in the romance department. Apparently, the creators were drawing from another popular show of the time that featured infidelity as a common theme in most episodes.

'Well Suits is very inspired by Mad Men. And in Mad Men everyone cheats, so maybe the Suits writers were going for that similarity? Of course, the main difference is Don Draper cheats but Harvey doesn't,' a fan noted.
