Robson Green Shares Exciting Update on Grantchester Season 9
The beloved series will be back in no time.
Let's face it, there's something incredibly comforting about watching British crime shows, as the heartwarming vistas of the English countryside and the gentlemanly vibes the detectives exude make the tired crime genre feel much more pleasant. And among numerous British crime series, ITV's Grantchester is definitely one of the best, as Robson Green's DI Geordie Keating is an absolutely charming protagonist to follow.
However, fans had a lot of doubts about the upcoming ninth season of Grantchester, as actor Tom Brittney recently revealed that he would be leaving the show at the end of the upcoming chapter, making viewers fear that the project will be canceled because of that.
Fortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case, as ITV announced that they had already cast Rishi Nair to star alongside Green in the ninth season and beyond.

For a long time, we had no idea when Grantchester would be returning, worried that ITV might postpone the series for the time being. But to fans' delight, Green recently took to Instagram to save the day, announcing that the beloved crime show had just started filming for the upcoming season, and sharing some behind-the-scenes pics to delight his followers.

As you can see, the cast is currently in the middle of shooting, which is great news for Grantchester's massive fandom. Fans were also surprised to learn that actor Al Weaver, who has played Leonard Ernest Finch since the series' first season, would direct the first episode of the upcoming chapter, making the show's comeback even more endearing than expected.
Considering that Grantchester Season 8 ended just a few weeks ago, people are happy to know that ITV is already filming the following episodes, proving that the network's producers are confident in the show's lasting success.
However, viewers should not expect to see Green and company again until next year. The upcoming Season 9 will most likely premiere in the summer of 2024, giving fans some time to miss the detectives and vicars.
