Robert Pattinson Would've Actually Quit Acting if Not for Twilight
It turns out that Hollywood came dangerously close to losing one of its leading men.
It isn't easy to envision the current movie landscape without its biggest heartthrob – Robert Pattinson. The actor skillfully balances his film appearances, dividing his attention between smaller indie films like Good Time and The Lighthouse and massive blockbusters like The Batman and Tenet.
This approach undoubtedly makes him one of the most interesting modern actors to follow. Of course, he wouldn't have achieved this level of fame without Twilight, and it seems he almost missed that opportunity back in 2007.
Before Twilight, Pattinson was essentially a handsome unknown, a young actor striving to make it in Hollywood. His early years were a complete disaster, as the actor himself admitted. He auditioned for numerous movies but was consistently rejected, which undoubtedly led the young Pattinson to doubt himself.
Then, he decided to audition for the role of vampire Edward Cullen, competing against 3,000 other actors. It appears that the actor was on the verge of quitting acting just before he landed the role.
‘I was literally, the day before I did this audition, I was going to quit acting. I was going to quit because I never got any jobs, so I guess it’s not really quitting when you’re not getting jobs — it’s just surrendering to fate,’ Pattinson said.
Indeed, it seems that the iconic actor might have vanished forever if the producers of Twilight hadn't recognised in him the qualities they needed for the movie. Fans are once again reminded that fame is sometimes a matter of luck as they congratulate each other on Pattinson's decision to try out for one more gig before turning a page on acting and moving on to other things.
However, not all fans are convinced that Pattinson would have disappeared from public view if he had failed to land the role. The actor is known for his excellent voice and could have easily become a prominent folk singer if he had decided to pursue singing professionally.
Although Pattinson is primarily an actor now, he continues to delight fans with his singing from time to time, proving that landing the role in Twilight was the best possible outcome for both him and the world.
