Riverdale Series Finale Spoiler Leaked, Fans Extremely Disappointed
The writers of Riverdale failed to create a fitting finale.
The CW's Riverdale looked like one of the freshest teen shows on the market when it arrived in 2017, instantly turning its main cast into bona fide superstars. However, the show went off the rails quite badly with its later installments, introducing half-baked plot twists and ridiculous character development from season to season.
In addition, most of the main cast were forbidden from pursuing other acting opportunities while starring in Riverdale, which obviously angered fans who wanted to see K. J. Apa and Lili Reinhart in other series and films.
Fortunately, all of this mess is soon coming to an end, as Riverdale is approaching its end with Season 7, which will finally set both the fans and the cast free. However, don't expect the finale to be anything but a total bummer — as recent rumors suggest, Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has found the worst possible way to end the long-running series.
Warning: Spoilers ahead!
According to the scoop, viewers will see the finale in three different timelines, and the main storyline will be wrapped up in the 1950s, which really bothers fans. Of course, the idea of three canonical endings might sound unique for such a huge show, but people are sure that Aguirre-Sacasa is just trying to absolve himself of responsibility by making something out of everything instead of really surprising the viewers.
'I think it makes endgame less impactful, if pretty much everything is endgame. Seems like a poor attempt by RAS to have none of the shippers mad at him,' one fan said.
Moreover, some people are certain that such a finale will completely destroy the entire show, ruining even the early seasons, which are still considered quite good by the fandom. After making such a divisive finale canon, the writers will discourage fans from ever watching Riverdale again.
'Imagine investing 6 years into these characters and their journeys only for them to not mean anything in the end. Basically, the first 6 seasons will become obsolete. That's probably the worst way you can end such a long run for a TV show,' another fan argued.
Riverdale Season 7 Episode 14 will arrive on The CW on July 5, 2023.
