Rings of Power Will Outdo Game of Thrones Epicness with 2-Episode Battle in Season 2
It would appear that Amazon wants to correct its mistakes.
While Amazon Prime's highly anticipated Rings of Power turned out to be a massive disappointment upon the premiere of its first season last year, there's no doubt that the series has plenty of room for improvement. Fans criticised the writers not only for deviating from canon but also for failing to craft engaging subplots. For many, this made watching the first season a tedious endeavour.
However, it would appear that the producers have heeded fan feedback and have something special in store for the next season.
The series was initially presented as Amazon's answer to HBO's iconic Game of Thrones. The showrunners seemingly continue to aspire to go above and beyond the famed series, particularly in terms of grandiose action and battle sequences. Who could forget Game of Thrones' monumental Battle of the Bastards, which went on for an entire episode and featured stunning combat sequences filmed from multiple vantage points? Now, it seems that Amazon intends to include an even more colossal confrontation in Rings of Power.
According to some rumours, the upcoming season will feature a battle that will go on for two episodes in what will probably become the longest and most expensive battle scene in Hollywood's history, potentially even eclipsing the epic combat sequences from the original Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Rumour has it that the epic two-episode battle will take place between the Elves of Eregion and an Orc army commanded by Adar, the treacherous Elf introduced in the first season. It has also been suggested that many other notable characters, like Arondir and Elrond, may join the fray alongside him.
Naturally, all this remains speculative, with Amazon yet to confirm these claims. But given the need for the showrunners to redeem themselves after the generally disappointing and boring inaugural season, there might be some truth to the whispers of an unprecedented battle.
Fortunately, Rings of Power has not been affected by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. With filming wrapped up and the second season in post-production, Amazon Prime is planning a 2024 release.
