The iconic series is coming back, but the fandom is not thrilled.

Adult Swim's hit animated comedy series Rick and Morty has been synonymous with adult television since it premiered in 2013, with each new season delighting fans with wacky ideas and offbeat storylines.

The show's creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon became true icons of the past decade, but it all came crashing down earlier this year when Roiland was accused by multiple people of predatory behavior and toxicity, forcing Adult Swim to fire him from his voice and writing duties on Rick and Morty.

And while most fans supported that decision at the time, the moment the court found Roiland not guilty due to insufficient evidence in the biggest case against him, essentially clearing his name of any wrongdoing, people began to rally for his return to voicing Rick and Morty.

Sadly, it looks like Adult Swim did not heed the fans' pleas, as the upcoming Season 7 will not include Roiland in any capacity. Instead, it was revealed that Rick and Morty would be voiced by some other voice actors, which sounds terrible, as the animated show's biggest charm has always been its authenticity.

Needless to say, many fans are not happy with this decision and are encouraging others to boycott the show.

'I'm out, they should have waited until what the court decided first before firing. I hate these quick-to-judgment decisions from companies because of the culture we're in. Also, I get tired of a year plus waiting for new episodes,' one fan said.

However, not all people are so critical and hope that the Season 7 premiere on October 15 will prove that the show can survive without Roiland. The fans note that even though he was acquitted of one of his crimes in court, the other charges against Roiland still stand.

The part of the fandom who support the series' renewal has only one fear regarding the upcoming season. They say it would be a huge bummer if Adult Swim doesn't somehow acknowledge the voice change of the main characters.

'I hope they make a joke about how their voices sounded slightly different. But otherwise, can't wait,' a fan noted.
