Princess Poppy Finally Breaks Silence on Drag Race Exit After 2-Month Hush
It looks like the early elimination from the season has taken its toll on the drag star.
RuPaul's Drag Race featured a record number of queens competing for the crown this season, and surely, each and every one of them was a bright and captivating personality. Of course, since the show is a competition, not all of the contestants were able to stay on the project for very long, but many of them still managed to make a lasting impression on fans.
Among the queens who were eliminated early in the season, Princess Poppy was one of the most beloved.
Poppy was forced to leave the show in the third episode without even winning a single challenge. Some fans took it personally, arguing that she deserved another chance to shine — but trying to refute RuPaul's decision is clearly a fool's errand, as the Queen of Drag will not tolerate anyone questioning her choices.
And it looks like Poppy decided to take some time before addressing the public after her early exit from the show, waiting two months before giving her first post-Drag Race interview.
In the interview, Princess Poppy revealed that her elimination from Drag Race and the massive fame the show helped her achieve made her question the future of her drag career.
"I want to fall off the face of the planet. I don't want to be famous. I want to fade into obscurity. That's not a bad thing. I think people put so much emphasis on success and fame, and it's okay to not want to be famous. It's totally valid to not want to be known by a bunch of people. Touring and doing drag all the time is really rough, it's tough on your body, and if you're not loving every minute, then it's difficult," Poppy told EW.
Fans are obviously concerned for Poppy, hoping that she doesn't completely lose her passion after the troubled Drag Race season, and some even say that her talents are so immense that not nurturing them further would be a crime to the drag culture.
But of course, people are also worried about Poppy's mental health, praising the queen for voicing out her insecurities regarding public attention and fame. It's okay if Princess Poppy decides to take a break, but we certainly hope to see her make her big return sometime in the future!
